Veterans Benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions.

WHAT TYPES OF BENEFITS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE VA?
The Department of Veterans Affairs offers many benefits and programs to eligible veterans, but we primarily assist clients with the disability compensation and pension programs.

VA disability compensation provides monthly benefits to veterans in recognition of the effects of disabilities, diseases, or injuries incurred or aggravated during active military service. The program also provides monthly payments to surviving spouses, dependent children, and dependent parents in recognition of the economic loss caused by a veteran's death during military service or, after discharge from military service, as a result of a service-connected disability.

The veterans pension benefit helps veterans and their families cope with financial challenges by providing supplemental income. Veterans pension is a tax-free monetary benefit payable to low-income wartime veterans.  Also, veterans and survivors who are eligible for a VA pension and require the aid and attendance of another person, or are housebound, may be eligible for an additional monetary payment. These benefits are paid in addition to the monthly pension amount, and cannot be paid unless the veteran or survivor is first eligible for the basic pension program.
